Leadership quotes - Eleanor Roosevelt

Eleanor became an important civil rights African-American spokeswoman during the segregation era. She was one of the only voices in the Roosevelt White House insisting that benefits be equally extended to Americans of all races. Following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, she was against her husband’s order to forces Japanese-Americans in many areas of the US into internment camps. She has spent the 12 years at White House holding 348 press conferences, and placed a ban on male reporters attending the press conferences. It effectively forced newspapers to keep female reporters on staff in order to cover them.
